What is your favorite feature of the MD-PhD program thus far?
“My favorite feature of the program is the clinical practicum. This amazing experience gave me the autonomy of being able to perform my own study so early on in my training, with still having the support system behind me of my peers and faculty. The practicum gave me a foundation to understand how clinical studies and clinical trials work while also sparking my interest in running clinical trials for the rest of my career.”
How has this academic program influenced your overall educational experience?
“My favorite feature of the program is the clinical practicum. This amazing experience training at UF provides a breadth of scientific and clinical experiences. The breadth here allowed me to broaden my perspective on the complex and integrative nature of medicine. This also enhanced my research training as I was able to collaborate with trainees from other disciplines, widening the reach of my project. Exposure to multiple specialties I fell also allowed me to understand the clinical context in which my research fits and how best to implement any findings to reach the intended population.erience gave me the autonomy of being able to perform my own study so early on in my training, with still having the support system behind me of my peers and faculty. Have you experienced any exciting breakthroughs/moments during your time in this program?
“My decision to go into family medicine was a breakthrough moment for me. I realized that this was the specialty that would provide me with the most diverse and broad training, giving me the most exposure to in- and outpatient nature of healthcare, pediatrics to geriatrics, while also working with all of the ancillary services required to make the healthcare system run.“
